Hope everyone had a great winter; if that's what you want to call it. All of us here in the weather department, along with our garden guru (and veteran news photographer) Dennis Brown, are ready to embark on a brand-new season of the SkyTracker7 Weather Garden.
Last year was a success and we're hoping to make this year's garden even better. If you remember, we had a variety of vegetables and even some herbs (Thanks to Robin and Alex Lawson).
We also dealt with that nasty groundhog who lived under the weatherdeck, and the bugs that were eating our leaves.
The busy west winds were a bit too strong for our corn and sunflowers, and the raised bed garden not quite deep enough. This turned what should have been full-size tomatoes, into cherry tomatoes (perfect for salads). I don't think anyone knew but us.
This year, we're still planning get those veggies in, but also add more everyday blooming plants. Perhaps hit some varieties you've never heard of before. Here's what's coming up this season...
- More hands-on gardening segments with the experts
- Weather Garden of the Week - This is where we'll highlight a good-looking viewer garden.
- Weather Garden Scrapbook - Highlighting great growers
- Expansive Website, with links and resources you'll only find here.
- Archived video segments just in case you missed one.
We've already hauled in a truckload of Rockydale Quarry's top soil. Over the winter, the garden settled, not to mention we have to fill in around the mole holes from last year. Fun!
We hope you'll check back soon as we begin another great year of gardening. We're also hoping the dry conditions will improve as 2008 progresses. Thanks for visiting.
